Day 30

The morning of the last day.

Thanks to everyone for their support.

Those that have contributed in the last stages are Travis, Sheila, Shai and Hung.

I even chipped in with a bit of cash to support the cause.

So here is the pic, and no doubt there will be some final pics showing you the deconstruction.

The tally to date is $617.00.  Thanks again to everyone for their support - let's hope we can make Cancer and depression things of the past and provide anyone with them with the support they need.

And here is a close up.  It is a shame you don't get to touch it...

And finally a pic of my team mates who also supported November.

Day 29

One day to go!!

And I think the mo must be settling in to my face.  I had a meeting at a clients yesterday with four of their staff, and no one commented about the Mo.... usually I get some comment such as "Movember hey?".

But nothing.

Maybe I should keep it?

Thanks to Prateek for his donation and the tally now stands at $482.

Enjoy it whilst it lasts.

Day 22

Self portrait time as no one else was around to help me take my photo!!

Day 21 - How to know when you have hair on your top lip...

Here's an embarrassing story for you all.

My pen died this morning, and so I dug around in my drawer to find a replacement, grabbed one and adopted it.  Here is a picture of the pen.

pen

Anyhow, was on the phone to the client late this morning and found myself scratching my mo with the end of my pen.

Then for some reason, and with great amount of pain, I found that I had a pen hanging from my top lip.

In hindsight and upon closer examination of the pen, it seems that I had started scratching the pen across my top lip horizontally, rather with the end.

Seems these little suckers like to grab hold of individual mo hairs, and not let go of them.

So with great pain, I pulled the pen away from my upper lip and winced in great pain all of which I hope was transparent to my client.

And here is the day 21 picture.

Day 19

Back to work, and the challenge of shaving around the mo, not on or through the mo returns.

IMG_4272

Day 18

Grooming has been completed.  See if you can spot the difference...

And yes, I was half asleep when the pic was taken, which probably means I was half asleep when the grooming was done.

IMG_4269

Day 17

Thanks to Gita's sponsorship I have hit $462.

Wahoo!

Grooming is scheduled for tomorrow - wonder if we will see a difference...

IMG_4261

Day 15

Thanks to Ange for her donation.  Total is now up to $442!

We're now half way.... wonder if the mo will double in size in the next two weeks.

Day 14

Was a busy day today. Just about to finish my second week of mo-growth.

Day 12

Today saw Bridget (in her role as my Mo-Sista, or should that be Mo-Girlfriend - Mo Sista sounds incestuous!!) send out a reminder email to her friends about what I was doing, and as a result, what Bridget was suffering through.

The result saw my sponsorship total go through the $400 mark and come to rest at $432.

Many thanks to the following people for their generous support, and of course once again to Bridget.

  • Robert
  • Madeleine
  • Marita
  • Rachel

Your support is very appreciated.

Finally, here is the day 12 photo.  This is what I look like two days before I have to get up in front of a crowd of clients and present a seminar...

Day 11

Another joyous day of not shaving and found myself in David Jones today waiting for Bridget to complete a purchase, and the counter just happened to have a mirror on it, so I checked the Mo out... not too bad... but its in need of grooming.... is it too early to groom? What say you?

IMG_4238

Day 10

Thank god for the weekend, and not having to shave delicately around the precious growth... I can't wait til December when I can shave without though once more....

IMG_4237

Thanks to Nat for her great donation - the tally is really moving now, and up to $282!

Day 9

Stood in front of the mirror today, and looked at the mo, and found myself longing for something fuller, and mo-ier... alas, this is what I had.... where is the "Boonie" like growth I was hoping for??

IMG_4234

Thanks to Sarah for her donation - the tally continues to kick along...

Day 8

It has now been a week since a razor blade has passed over my top lip.

Comments so far? Not as full a mo as I would have hoped for, but least its not ginger or sandy in appearance like some I know.

3 weeks to go, surely I can fashion it into something other than a wirey looking adolescent growth... fingers crossed!! Stay tuned!

Day 7

It is starting to get itchy... found my hand going to my top lip quite a bit today...

Only other highlight to report today is that I got told that I was looking like Adolf Hitler... maybe just me, but I can't see it.... perhaps if I shaved both sides of my nostrils we may? But that would take quite a big donation!!

Oh yeah, and no possums last night!

Day 6

Here's the Day 6 photo.... and a story to go with it.

Left work at 7pm last night and caught the bus home. Was walking from the bus stop to my place, and there is a house on one of the corners that is about to be demolished. Its dark, and I'm walking past the house, and there are a few trees overhanging the footpath. I hear a rustle in the trees above and look up, and can see the outline of a possum up there.

Ignoring it, I keep walking, and the rustling gets a bit more loud, and next thing I know I'm being followed along the footpath by a possum, its not just lurking behind me either - it was chasing me.

I figure it must have thought that with the sheer volume of mo, that I must have been eating one of its buddies and it was on a mission to stop me.

Anyhow, I stopped and stomped a foot, and it ran off up another tree. No doubt it is gathering reinforcements and will conduct a repeat attack against me tonight.

Monday, November 5, 2007

You can't say Aussie's don't support a good cause...

Was looking at the movember.com website and according to here Australians have raised $1.7 mil from nearly 70,000 registrations. Wahoo!

The UK have raised 87,000 pounds from just under 4,000 registrations...

The US have only bothered to raise a poor $90,000 from 1,415.

Day 5

Back at work, and have been stopped/commented on by countless people. The typical greeting seems to be "Movember, hey?".

I keep forgetting that there is something on my lip.... hey, I wonder if I'll get to a stage where I'll be able to see my mo without the aid of a mirror.... Very interesting thought - I'll keep you posted.

Thanks to Megan for the donation.

Here's the pic, and yep - seems I have another 25 days of making my workmates laugh.

Day 4

Thanks to Jodie M for a donation - much appreciated.

Here's the pic, my regular photographer was AWOL, so had to get a new one for the day...

Day 3

Here is the day 3 photo.

Latest sponsorships have been received from Jodie W and Micheal. Thanks guys.

3 days and it is taking shape!

Day 2

First day of not shaving today, but nothing much to report on because its kinda just like a Saturday growth.

But did make a decision today as I stood in front of the mirror and held my razor. No flavour saver for me. If Shannon Noll got rid of his, its clearly not considered cool (was it ever?) and so the first decision in the style of mo has been made.

For the record, here is the photo...

Thursday, November 1, 2007

Here we go....

I've done it, I've had my last shave for Movember. The upper lip is smooth, and ready for the forest to grow.

Here's proof.

Still no decision has been made on style, so I think I'll just generally grow hair in the region around my mouth until inspiration hits me, or one of you tell me what I should groom my growth into.
Thanks to Raina for her pledge, with her support I'm now sitting at $140.00.
